others, that he placed a personal call to the station management on
October 19th and that a return call was placed immediately back to him

Copy of Tavis Smiley’s Open Letter to Challenge the
Cancellation of His Show in Chicago...
This letter was written by Tavis Smiley, co-host of the radio show,
“Smiley & West,” along with Dr. Cornel West. The letter is addressed to
Torey Malatia, President and CEO of Chicago Public media.
Dear Mr. Malatia,
In my 20 years of being a broadcaster, this letter represents the very
first time I have felt compelled to write a personal note to the head of a
local station. <Click To Continue...>
Two Illinois Democratic colleagues met Monday with Rep. Jesse Jackson
Jr. at his Washington home, then flew home to urge his constituents and
the news media to give him time to recover from his bipolar disorder out of
the limelight.
"He has not been derelict in his duties (as congressman)," said Rep. Bobby
Rush, appearing with Rep. Danny Davis at an O'Hare International Airport
news conference Monday night. <Click To Continue...> ___________________________________________________________

the Urban Translator was the only one there speaking on behalf of a
segment of the African-American community that understands the
importance of our voices being heard pro or con on issues that
concern us as Americans in general and African -Americans and poor

CLEVELAND – Having shouted himself hoarse for two days urging
supporters to vote, and vote early, President Obama flew to Chicago to
do so himself this afternoon, on his way to an evening rally here in
Ohio. His campaign says he is the first sitting president to vote for
himself ahead of Election Day.
In casting his ballot early, Mr. Obama is providing a very personal
endorsement of a system that was enormously successful for him in
2008, and may be the key to his re-election hopes. His narrow win in
North Carolina four years ago was driven in large part by early voters,
who turned out in larger numbers than those on Election Day, and
tended to support Mr. Obama. They also gave him a winning margin in
Iowa, Florida and Colorado.
Early voting is popular among those with inflexible work or
transportation schedules, who often tend to be lower-income, elderly,
or minority voters and are thus more likely to be Democrats. In North
Carolina four years ago, more than half the black vote was cast before
Election Day, compared to 40 percent of the white vote. In many states,
black voters went directly to the polls from church on the Sunday
before Election Day. <Click To Continue...>

Property records show Daley sold the 3,040-square-foot home in the
1400 block of South Prairie for $750,000 on Sept. 13. The buyers were
daughter Nora and her husband, Sean Conroy, vice president at
Grosvenor Capital Management.
Records further show that Daley’s family trust provided a mortgage of
$739,557 to the buyers.
The former mayor and his late wife, Maggie, bought the four-level unit in
1993 for $410,000 from MCL Cos., the developer of the project in the

Chicago's Dark Legacy of Police Torture...
On January 25, 1990, the Chicago
Reader, the free alternative weekly,
published a cover story, nearly 20,000
words long, titled “House of Screams.”
Written and reported over the course of
a year by journalist John Conroy, the
investigation exposed, in meticulous
detail, a long and chilling history of
abuse by police against suspects on the
South Side of Chicago. At the Area 2
Violent Crimes Unit, Police Commander
Jon Burge had overseen and
participated in the systemic torture of an
untold number of African-American men,
